Secundum Type Atrial Septal Defect

A heterogeneous group of atrial heart septal defects (ASD) that occurs both sporadically and in families (OMIM: 108800). Conduction defects or non-cardiac abnormalities may or may not be present. In familial cases, genes have been mapped and mutations identified for several types, including a mutation in the GATA4 gene for ASD2 (OMIM: 607941).
