[Kidney autotransplantation in the treatment of renovascular hypertension].

Abstract
75 patients with renovascular hypertension were treated by renal autotransplantation. This operation ist indicated in complicated disorders of the renal arteries in which an in situ reconstruction may be impossible. The operative technique and the methods of renal preservation are described in detail. The superior efficacy of renal autotransplantation is demonstrated by positive treatment results in 82.7% of the patients with renovascular hypertension. The prognosis of hypertension was unfavourable in patients with long-term history of the disease. Better treatment results are expected in fibromuscular renal artery stenosis, arteritis of renal arteries and renal artery aneurysms in comparison with atherosclerotic stenosis of renal arteries.
