Downregulation of YAP in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma Contributes to Poor Prognosis and Progressive Features.

AbstractTHE GOAL:
To investigate the expression of Yes-associated protein (YAP) in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and its clinical/prognostic significance.
PROCEDURES:
The expression of YAP protein was evaluated in tissue microarray by immunohistochemistry. Correlation between YAP expression and clinicopathological characteristics of renal cell carcinoma was analyzed.
RESULTS:
Downregulation of YAP protein was observed in ccRCC samples (P=0.0311). Downregulation of YAP expression was correlated with higher T classification, higher clinical stage, and poorer differentiation (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONS:
Downregulation of YAP in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) may contribute to poor prognosis and progressive features.
