Abstract | OBJECTIVE: METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted to obtain the prevalence of hyperglycemia among AIDS patients in a single center. Univariate and multivariate non-conditional logistic regression analysis were used to determine influencing factors of hyperglycemia. RESULTS: A total of 504 AIDS patients participated in the survey, who have received ART for at least three months. The prevalence of hyperglycemia was 15.7%. Multivariate analysis showed that age (OR = 1.03, 95%CI 1.00-1.05), family history of diabetes (OR = 2.70, 95%CI 1.55-4.69), overweight (OR = 2.13, 95%CI 1.24-3.67), nadir CD4 cell counts 50-199 cells/µl (OR = 1.95, 95%CI 1.08-3.51) and less than 50 cells/µl (OR = 2.95, 95%CI 1.47-5.91) were relevant factors associated with hyperglycemia. CONCLUSIONS:
Blood glucose should be monitored regularly in AIDS patients receiving ART , especially among patients with old age, family history of diabetes, overweight and nadir CD4 T cell counts less than 200 cells/µl.
