Analgesia for labor pain with ropivacaine.

Abstract
In the following text we will review several papers dealing with ropivacaine and labor analgesia. Because of ropivacaine's reduced toxicity and decreased incidence of motor impairment, it offers several advantages to bupivacaine when used as anesthetic for labor epidural analgesia. However the equipotency of ropivacaine compared to bupivacaine has recently been questioned and warrants further investigation.
