Protein analogs and derivatives of the Disocosoma red fluorescent protein that emit a red-orange light (FLUORESCENCE) when excited with ULTRAVIOLET RAYS. They are used as REPORTER GENES and FLUORESCENT PROBES for MICROSCOPY of living cells and organisms.
