Abstract | INTRODUCTION: AIM: MATERIAL AND METHODS: Flow cytometric analysis was carried out in 20 children with osteosarcoma (aged 6 to 18 years) after preliminary chemotherapy. Biopsy material was taken during operation. RESULTS: It was shown, that higher aneuploid fraction and DNA index correlate with higher IGF-IR expression (significant difference p<O, 05). It may influence the sensitivity of osteosarcoma with higher aneuploidy fraction on the IGF-1, and in consequence may result in increasing proliferation. CONCLUSIONS: The suggestion concerning higher susceptibility of osteosarcoma's with higher aneuploidy on IGF-1 should be verified by longer clinical observation concerning survival rate in the two groups; the group with higher and the group with lower aneuploidy and IGF-IR expression.
