Orofacial Cleft 1

Isolated cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P) is genetically heterogeneous and most cases (>75%) are isolated. Brain abnormalities, including enlarged anterior regions of the CEREBRUM, and decreased volumes of the posterior cerebrum and CEREBELLUM also occur, the left TEMPORAL LOBE is also frequently affected. OFC1 exhibits autosomal dominant inheritance and has been mapped to chromosome 6. OMIM: 119530
