Right atrial thrombus as a complication of total parenteral nutrition in pregnancy.

AbstractBACKGROUND:
Right atrial thrombus, a rare but potentially fatal complication of central venous catheter use in total parenteral nutrition, has not been reported during pregnancy.
CASE:
A pregnant woman with persistent hyperemesis gravidarum developed a right atrial thrombus related to central venous catheter use for total parenteral nutrition.
CONCLUSION:
Right atrial thrombus can be treated successfully with heparin, leading to its resolution and a normal pregnancy outcome.
