Abstract |
L-DOPA effect on the level of dopamine, hypophyseal luteinizing hormone and total estrogen excretion was studied in the treatment of patients with the amenorrhea-galactorrhea syndrome. The data obtained show positive L-DOPA effect on hypothalamic-hypophyseal-ovarian relationships in the majority of patients that makes it useful in therapeutic practice. The short-term course of L-DOPA administration combined with systematic studies of dopamine and hypophyseal luteinizing hormone excretion may be recommended as a functional test for differential diagnosis of central menstrual dysfunction.
