Abstract | PURPOSE: To discuss a case of zygomycosis in a 71-year-old woman with diabetes. An overview of the prevalence and pathogenesis of the disorder, clinical diagnosis, and treatment are presented. DATA SOURCES: Case report, diagnostic evidence, and scientific literature. CONCLUSIONS: IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: Practitioners should know about zygomycosis because the diagnosis is frequently missed and early and aggressive treatment is imperative.
