[Indications for and the effectiveness of the Nissen operation].

Abstract
Fifty six Nissen operations and 42 fundorrhaphies+ were performed in patients with hiatal hernias, insufficiency of the lower esophageal sphincter as well as for prophylactic purposes as an addition to vagotomy. In remote periods under examination there were 78 patients, 36 of them had different disorders, most of them of functional character which can be easily arrested by conservative methods.
