Abstract |
In recent years, viral zoonoses are causing public health problems in Japan and abroad. This is due to the outbreaks of emerging viral zoonoses at different localities in the world. Due to the globalization, these emerging viral zoonoses may invade into Japan. To prevent the invasion and spread of the emerging viral zoonoses, quarantine measures should be strengthened against movements of man and animals. Diagnostic tests and vaccines to the zoonoses should be developed. Epidemiological survey must be conducted against man and domestic and wild animals in the endemic regions. International cooperation and information exchange are essential to establish the preventive systems for the viral zoonoses.
