[Study on using in vitro 3T3 neutral red uptake to test phototoxicity].

AbstractOBJECTIVE:
To establish neutral red uptake test of 3T3 in vitro to detect phototoxicity of chemicals and study the in vitro 3T3 NUR as an alternative method instead of animal skin phototoxicity test.
METHODS:
Using incubated Balb/c3T3 cells to establish the optimal conditions of reaction system.
RESULTS:
The concentration of neutral red, the incubate time, pH and the density of cells were the factors effecting test results.
CONCLUSION:
It is suggested that in vitro 3T3 neutral red uptake test can be used as an alternative instead of animals phototoxicity test.
