Multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma arising in a lingual thyroid: a case report.

Abstract
We report the first case (to our knowledge) of a multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma arising in a lingual thyroid. The patient underwent a transcervical, transhyoid approach for excision, followed by radioiodine ablation, with excellent functional and oncologic results. We also discuss the management, diagnosis, and historical background of a malignant neoplasm arising in a lingual thyroid.
