Citalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, improves symptoms of Friedreich's ataxia.

Abstract
Two patients (siblings) with Friedreich's ataxia showed improvement in their clinical symptoms--particularly spasticity and cardiac symptoms--after treatment with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor citalopram.
