CD58 Antigens (LFA-3)

Glycoproteins with a wide distribution on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells and strongly expressed on macrophages. CD58 mediates cell adhesion by binding to CD2; (ANTIGENS, CD2); and this enhances antigen-specific T-cell activation.
Also Known As:

07/01/1992 - "The recombinant vaccinia-encoded LFA-3 was functional as an adhesion molecule since BL cells acutely infected with Vacc-LFA-3 then acquired the ability to form conjugates with activated T cells in vitro. "
05/15/2008 - "We report here a pilot study of 25 patients treated with a poxviral vaccine regimen consisting of the genes for CEA and MUC-1, along with a triad of costimulatory molecules (TRICOM; composed of B7.1, intercellular adhesion molecule 1, and lymphocyte function-associated antigen 3) engineered into vaccinia (PANVAC-V) as a prime vaccination and into fowlpox (PANVAC-F) as a booster vaccination. "
05/01/2003 - "These mice were vaccinated with recombinant poxviral vectors [recombinant vaccinia, recombinant fowlpox (rF)] encoding the CEA transgene as well as a triad of costimulatory molecules [B7-1, ICAM-1, and LFA-3 (TRICOM)]. "
06/01/2009 - "We previously demonstrated that infection of CLL cells with modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) expressing the costimulatory molecules B7-1, ICAM-1, and LFA-3 (designated TRICOM) increased expression of these costimulatory molecules on the surface of CLL cells and thus augmented their antigen-presenting capability. "
10/15/2002 - "The vaccines used were recombinant vaccinia virus containing the transgenes for CEA and three T-cell costimulatory molecules [B7-1, ICAM-1, and LFA-3, designated recombinant vaccinia (rV)-CEA/TRICOM], with each transgene under the control of individual poxvirus promoters, and a replication-defective avipox virus (fowlpox; rF) containing the same four transgenes (designated rF-CEA/TRICOM). "
01/01/2006 - "Based on previous studies that demonstrated the safety profile and preliminary clinical activity of prostate specific antigen (PSA) targeted therapeutic vaccines, as well as recent laboratory data supporting the value of the addition of co-stimulatory molecules B7-1, ICAM-1, and LFA-3 (designated TRICOM) to these vaccines, we conducted a Phase I study to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of a novel vaccinia and fowlpox vaccine incorporating the PSA gene sequence and TRICOM.
