Glycosuria

The appearance of an abnormally large amount of GLUCOSE in the urine, such as more than 500 mg/day in adults. It can be due to HYPERGLYCEMIA or genetic defects in renal reabsorption (RENAL GLYCOSURIA).

01/01/1983 - "The levels of glycosylated hemoglobin (Hb AI), intermittent glycemia and glycosuria over 24 hr, Mw index, fasting serum cholesterol and triglycerides, and 24-hr proteinuria were determined in 20 healthy subjects and 88 diabetics representing different clinical types of diabetes mellitus. "
10/01/1985 - "Glycosuria was eliminated, and mean 24-h plasma glucose and hemoglobin A1c levels decreased in both patients and remained in or near the normal range for 3 yr. Improvements were also noted in serum triglyceride concentrations and vitreous fluorescein concentrations after iv fluorescein injection. "
06/01/2000 - "Insulin 1) reduces glycosuria and its caloric expenditure; 2) stimulates the stockage of fatty acids into triglycerides in adipose tissue, thus favoring an increase in adipose mass; 3) yields a positive nitrogen balance through an inhibition of muscle proteolysis, thus favoring an increase in lean mass. "
02/01/1988 - "There were no differences in fasting, one-, two-, and three-hour post-lunch serum glucose levels; 24-hour glycosuria; glycohemoglobin levels; fasting and postprandial serum triglyceride levels, or fasting high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol levels. "
01/01/2007 - "Caffeine significantly reduced body weight and glycosuria (weeks 2-9), improved glucose tolerance (week 9), had no effect on elevated plasma triglycerides, plasma cholesterol (week 9) and blood pressure (week 9), and significantly increased plasma cholesterol level (weeks 5 and 9). "
