Memory Disorders (Memory Loss)
01/01/1995 - "
We concluded that FR121196 ameliorates the memory deficits of rats with cholinergic dysfunction through the action on the hippocampal monoaminergic (possibly serotonergic) neurons.
"
01/01/1995 - "
Daily treatment with FR121196 (0.1-1.0 mg/kg i.p.) ameliorated all the memory deficits except in the FF-lesioned rats, whereas physostigmine (0.032-0.32 mg/kg) ameliorated the memory deficits in scopolamine-treated rats but not in the NBM-lesioned, FF-lesioned or aged rats.
"
04/11/1994 - "
Administration of FR121196 (0.1-10 mg/kg) significantly ameliorated the memory deficits produced by scopolamine and NBM lesioning but not that induced by cysteamine.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
"
11/01/1992 - "
FR121196 ameliorated the scopolamine-induced memory deficit with a bell-shaped dose-response curve, whereas methamphetamine had the opposite effect.

Tetanus
09/07/1993 - "
The magnitude of long-term potentiation of population spikes recorded in CA3 pyramidal neurons was significantly augmented by perfusing FR121196 (10(-9)-10(-6) M) for 25 min before and during tetanic stimulation of the mossy fibers; the basal amplitude of population spikes before tetanus was hardly affected by the drug.

Body Weight (Weight, Body)
03/01/1994 - "
Further evaluation of FR64822 derivatives characterized a second compound, FR121196, which induces penile erection and memory enhancement, but not body weight reduction.

Amnesia (Dissociative Amnesia)
11/01/1992 - "
FR121196[N-(4-acetyl-1-piperazinyl)-4-fluorobenzenesulfonamide+ ++], a newly introduced cognitive enhancer, ameliorated the failure in memory retention with bell-shaped dose-response curves in doses ranging from 0.1 to 10 mg/kg. Similar dose-response curves also were obtained with methamphetamine (0.1-10 mg/kg), whereas physostigmine (0.01-1.0 mg/kg) attenuated the amnesia in scopolamine-treated rats, but hardly affected that in nucleus basalis magnocellularis-lesioned or aged rats.
