commonly used in oral surgery for fixation of dental splints both in anesthetized &/or conscious patients; consists of powder (mainly cupric oxide with small amounts of zinc oxide & magnesium oxide) & a liquid (mainly orthophosphoric acid with aluminum hydroxide, zinc oxide & magnesium oxide) which are mixed to form the final cement; can cause local acid burns
