1.
Sunburn
04/01/1978 - "
We found that one of these, amyl paradimethylaminobenzoate (padimate A) was capable of provoking phototoxic reactions; With ultraviolet A (UV-A) dosages of about 30 joules/sq cm, a reaction grossly resembling sunburn developed in most subjects.
"
04/01/1975 - "
In a group of 104 non-photosensitive subjects and seventy-eight suffering from a variety of photodermatoses, the most effective protective preparation against irradiation by short UV sunburn wavelengths (smaller than 320 nm) was found to be a mixture of 5% para-aminobenzoic acid and 2.5% of the ester amyl dimethylaminobenzoate in 70% ethanol with para-aminobenzoic acid being usually more effective than the ester, and mexenone the least effective individually.

Ascites
06/01/1977 - "
Two preparations of mixed isomers (ortho and para) of amyl dimethylaminobenzoate were found to be phototoxic to Ehrlich ascites cells in vitro and to produce diphasic phototoxic reactions in vivo after topical application on symptomatic workers, asymptomatic workers, or previously unexposed subjects.
