Treatment of hydatid disease with mebendazole at Frere Hospital, East London. A preliminary report.

Abstract
The high incidence in South Africa of hydatid disease caused by Echinococcus granulosus is indicated. Preliminary experience in the treatment of cysts with high doses of mebendazole (Vermox; Ethnor) is presented. The low toxicity of mebendazole as reported in the literature is confirmed.
