[Value of prolactin determination in oligozoospermia].

Abstract
Serum levels of prolactin were determined in 181 patients with idiopathic oligozoospermia, in order to find out a possible interference of hyperprolactinemia and disturbed spermatogenesis. In 4 cases hyperprolactinemia was found. Suppression of prolactin levels by bromocriptine in those cases did not result in an increase of spermatogenetic activity. From these data it can be concluded that hyperprolactinemia plays no significant role in idiopathic oligozoospermia. The value of determination of serum levels of prolactin remains questionable.
