Uptake of 5-hydroxytryptamine by isolated platelets in childhood schizophrenia and autism.

Abstract	Previous work indicated a platelet abnormality in the in vitro accumulation of serotonin in childhood schizophrenia, especially infantile autism. The present report validates this further in cases of infantile autism and shows that the abnormality seems to be due to the platelets. The defect is apparently associated with the platelet and not the plasma.
