Stuttering as a manifestation of stroke.

Abstract
Two cases are described of stuttering as a manifestation of cerebral ischaemia in previously stutter-free individuals. In the first case, stuttering suddenly ceased after carotid endarterectomy; the second patient developed stuttering after a period of three days of complete aphasia after which the stutter gradually improved. Aetiological possibilities are discussed in the light of current theories.
