[The status quo of pharmacotherapy of lipid metabolism disorders in the aged].

Abstract
The latest findings of arteriosclerosis and lipid metabolism research have shown that application of medicaments in the treatment of hyper- and dyslipoproteinaemias is necessary also at an advanced age, if dietary treatment fails. A consequent lipid normalisation suggests a decrease of arteriosclerotic effects. The expected benefit must be greater than possible side-effects of lipid regulatives. Lipid regulatives commonly used in the GDR are presented.
