Towards new leprosy and tuberculosis vaccines.

AbstractLeprosy and tuberculosis are chronic infectious diseases causing major global health problems, for which no effective control by vaccination has been achieved. Recent advances in biotechnology may facilitate the design of a new vaccine generation. In this paper the need for, and the potential of, leprosy and tuberculosis vaccines are discussed.
