Advances in the prevention of osteoporosis.

Abstract
Recent advances in the techniques for measuring bone mass and the advent of hormone replacement therapy have markedly improved the outlook for patients with osteoporosis. The ability to predict which women are at high risk will enable preventive measures to be taken.
