Abstract | PURPOSE OF REVIEW:
Heart failure is very common in the elderly and there are numerous challenges in diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment. RECENT FINDINGS: Recent studies have provided useful tools to help with the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure in the elderly. Recent studies also show that standard heart failure therapies are also beneficial in the elderly. SUMMARY: Although treatment of heart failure in the elderly poses some management challenges, an effort to improve the use of evidence-based therapies will improve outcomes.
