[Pathogenesis of osteoma of the skull].

Abstract
The sites of osteomas of the frontal and temporal bone are mostly the sutures and only rarely the flat bones. In a retrospective analysis of 12 osteomas, we found that the localisation influences the histological architecture: In osteomas of suture origin, the fibrovascular component is significantly reduced. The aetiopathogenesis of these benign osteogenic tumours is discussed.
