Abstract | INTRODUCTION: MATERIAL AND METHODS: RESULTS: In all examined tumors we observed positive cytoplasmatic staining of cytokeratin 19. In 41 cases (44%) it was weak staining (CK 1), in 35 (37%) medium (CK 2) and in 18 (19%) strong one (CK 3). We demonstrated higher expression of cytokeratin 19 in these patients, who survived 2 years (p = 0,003). We also observed relationship between higher expression of CK 19 and survival in patients with squamous cell cancer, but there was no correlation with survival in patients with adenocarcinoma.
