Thrombolytic therapy in acute myocardial infarction.

Abstract
This article examines thrombolytic therapy, the first-line treatment for patients presenting with acute myocardial infarction in most UK hospitals. The pharmacology of thrombolytic drugs and reasons for their use are discussed.
