Apoptotic Protease-Activating Factor 1

A CARD signaling adaptor protein characterized by an N-terminal CARD DOMAIN and C-terminal WD40 REPEATS. It plays a role in the mitochondria-stimulated apoptosis (APOPTOSIS, INTRINSIC PATHWAY) and binds to CYTOCHROME C in the CYTOSOL to form an APOPTOSOMAL PROTEIN COMPLEX which activates INITIATOR CASPASES such as CASPASE 9.
Also Known As:
Apaf-1 Protease-Activating Factor; Apoptotic Peptidase Activating Factor 1; Apaf 1 Protease Activating Factor; Apoptotic Protease Activating Factor 1; Protease-Activating Factor, Apaf-1
