06/15/1985 - "These results demonstrate that continuous lumbar epidural anesthesia is safe and effective for both the fetus and the mother with pregnancy-induced hypertension."
06/15/1985 - "The use of continuous lumbar epidural anesthesia in women with pregnancy-induced hypertension remains controversial. "
01/01/2003 - "While limiting the fetal exposure to the harmful effects of depressant drugs, epidural anesthesia and/or analgesia improves placental perfusion and oxygenation of the fetus, which is beneficial, especially in conditions such as pregnancy-induced hypertension. "
03/01/2005 - "Cases and control subjects were chosen randomly and patients' records were reviewed for the following variables: maternal age, parity, gestational age, tobacco use, gestational diabetes or pregnancy-induced hypertension, use of peridural anesthesia, duration of first and second stages of labor, use of mediolateral episiotomy, forceps combined with mediolateral episiotomy, induction of labor, infant head diameter, shoulder circumference, and birth weight. "
01/01/1990 - "We found that a high bilirubin level was significantly associated with male sex; maternal diabetes (chronic and gestational); pregnancy-induced hypertension; previous sibling with neonatal jaundice; delivery by cesarean section, vacuum, or forceps; epidural anesthesia; mother with blood type O; first delivery; cephalohematoma; short gestation; lower birth weight; and lower birth order (p less than 0.01); and older maternal age, low percentile for birth weight, and the percentage of weight loss during hospitalization (p less than 0.05).
