Glucose Metabolism Disorders

Pathological conditions in which the BLOOD GLUCOSE cannot be maintained within the normal range, such as in HYPOGLYCEMIA and HYPERGLYCEMIA. Etiology of these disorders varies. Plasma glucose concentration is critical to survival for it is the predominant fuel for the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM.

01/01/2013 - "Logistic regression was used to assess the influence of each risk factor (age, BMI, waist circumference, physical activity, the presence of cardiovascular disease, positive family history of diabetes, cholesterol and triglycerides concentration) on the development of glucose metabolism disorders. "
06/01/2013 - "Metabolic syndrome is defined as cluster of independent risk factors of coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus including prediabetic glucose metabolism disorders associated with insulin resistance as impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance and/ or borderline increasing of glycosylated haemoglobin; central obesity, atherogenic dyslipidaemia with increasing of triglyceride levels and decreasing of high density lipoprotein levels and hypertension. "
01/01/2023 - "Berberine treatment attenuated hepatic steatosis, reduced triglyceride (190.1 ± 11.2 μmol/g liver vs 113.6 ± 7.6 μmol/g liver, P < 0.001) and cholesterol (11.3 ± 2.5 μmol/g liver vs 6.3 ± 0.4 μmol/g liver, P < 0.001) concentration in the liver, and improved lipid and glucose metabolism disorders compared with the HFD group. "
04/03/2023 - "Our results showed that in vitro TUS reduced oleic acid palmitate acid-induced triglyceride and cholesterol synthesis in HepG2 cells, reduced intracellular lipid droplet accumulation, improved glucose metabolism disorders and increased energy metabolism and reduced oxidative stress levels. "
11/01/2020 - "PRACTICAL APPLICATION: In this study, coniferaldehyde appeared to be effective in ameliorating hepatic lipid and glucose metabolism disorders in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease by reducing the levels of intracellular triglyceride and total cholesterol and enhancing glucose uptake and intracellular glycogen content via the LKB1/AMPK signaling pathway in vitro.
