Therapies and Procedures

1. Arthrodesis
2. Arthroplasty
3. Osteotomy
11/01/2001 - "There were seven claw toe correction procedures, four calcaneal valgus osteotomies for varus malunions and one subtalar arthrolysis at the time of hardware removal"
07/01/1987 - "One hundred thirty-two (30.7%) second hammer toe operations accompanied these Mitchell bunionectomies, and all 430 patients had their second metatarsals longer than their corresponding first metatarsals by an average of 9.3 mm. The author employed a biplane plantar angulation and closing wedge valgus osteotomy of the first metatarsal neck that reduced the first metatarsophalangeal angle from an average of 30 to 13.8 degrees, and the first intermetatarsal angle from an average of 14.7 to 6.1 degrees, with an average first metatarsal shortening of 4.9 mm. The average lateral displacement of the first metatarsal head was 6.5 mm., and three cases of medial angulation and 13 cases of dorsal displacement of the first metatarsal head were encountered"
01/01/1998 - "Interphalangeal arthrodesis for hammer toes, extension osteotomy of the head of the first metatarsals, and Kellers operation were carried out in the foot"
12/01/1986 - "Os calcis osteotomy appeared from this series to be a moderately successful interim operation for the equinus varus foot, delaying the need for premature triple arthrodesis, but the long-term results in cavo-varus feet with claw toes were uniformly poor"
11/01/2007 - "Certain complications have disappeared: nonunion after M1 and P1 osteotomy, great toe claw, symptomatic iatrogenic hallux valgus"
