Brain Hypoxia-Ischemia (Hypoxia Ischemia, Brain)

367  relevant articles (16 outcomes, 45 trials/studies) found for this Disease

Description: A disorder characterized by a reduction of oxygen in the blood combined with reduced blood flow (ISCHEMIA) to the brain from a localized obstruction of a cerebral artery or from systemic hypoperfusion. Prolonged hypoxia-ischemia is associated with ISCHEMIC ATTACK, TRANSIENT; BRAIN INFARCTION; BRAIN EDEMA; COMA; and other conditions.

1. Ligation
02/01/2008 - "coli O55:B5, 0.2mg/kg for 3 days, then 0.1mg/kg for 2 days) daily for 5 days after unilateral cerebral hypoxia-ischemia (right carotid ligation followed by 35min in 10% O2) in 10-day-old mice resulted in increased right forebrain tissue damage (35.6% reduction in right hemisphere volume compared to 20.6% reduction in saline-injected controls), in bilateral reductions in corpus callosum area (by 12%) and myelin basic protein immunostaining (by 19%), and in suppression of injury-related right subventricular zone cellular proliferation"
02/01/1987 - "Cerebral hypoxia-ischemia was produced in 1-week-old rats by exposing them to 8% O2-92% N2 commencing 4 to 6 h after unilateral carotid artery ligation"
07/01/2003 - "Unilateral cerebral hypoxia-ischemia (HI) was induced in 7-day-old rats by ligation of the left carotid artery and hypoxia (7.7% O2) for 55 min. AIF release from mitochondria and AIF translocation to nuclei was detected immediately after HI, and only in damaged areas, as judged by the concurrent loss of MAP-2"
06/18/1997 - "The most frequently used model of neonatal cerebral hypoxia-ischemia consists of a 7-day postnatal rat model with combined common carotid artery ligation and hypoxemia"
09/01/1990 - "In a preceding paper, we showed that the exposure to hypoxia after unilateral carotid artery ligation of sucking rat on 7 days of age caused various pathological changes in the ipsilateral forebrain, which had close similarity to human perinatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy"

3. Neonatal Intensive Care
03/01/1998 - "Also recorded in the amnioinfusion group were significant reductions in the following perinatal morbidity measures: 5-minute Apgar score below 7, neonatal intensive care admissions, neonatal ventilation, and hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy"
01/01/1998 - "METHODS: Five hundred forty-five consecutive neonatal intensive care unit deaths (338 autopsied, rate 62%) in a regional tertiary/quaternary care neonatal intensive care unit for referred infants (65,000 annual births) were classified in six clinical diagnostic groups (anomalies, cardiac anomalies, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, prematurity and its complications, infections, and other) and rated in three levels of certainty of clinical diagnosis as "gold standard" certainty, almost complete certainty, and less certain than the latter"
09/01/2002 - "All infants transferred to the neonatal intensive care unit were studied, and those with neonatal seizures secondary to hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy were identified"
09/01/2001 - "Between 1994 and 2000, 30 full-term newborns affected by seizures secondary to hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, underwent computerised, polygraphic, video-EEG recordings during the first 48 hours of life, in our neonatal intensive care unit"
06/01/1993 - "In order to check the prognostic implications of EEG tracings in hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), we carried out prospective EEG recordings in 116 newborn babies (65 term and 51 premature) admitted to our neonatal intensive care unit as a result of perinatal asphyxia"
