Macrophage Inflammatory Proteins (Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1)

Heparin-binding proteins that exhibit a number of inflammatory and immunoregulatory activities. Originally identified as secretory products of MACROPHAGES, these chemokines are produced by a variety of cell types including NEUTROPHILS; FIBROBLASTS; and EPITHELIAL CELLS. They likely play a significant role in respiratory tract defenses.

12/14/2001 - "The 5'-flanking sequences of the human macrophage inflammatory protein-3alpha/CCL20 gene were cloned and transfected into G-361 human melanoma cells in a luciferase reporter construct. "
08/14/2023 - "Previous studies in the B16F10 mouse melanoma model have demonstrated that combining a DNA vaccine comprised of regions of gp100 and tyrosinase-related protein 2 fused to Macrophage-inflammatory protein 3-alpha (MIP3α) with recombinant Interferon alpha (IFN) and 5-Aza-2'-Deoxycytidine (5Aza) treatments resulted in significantly greater anti-tumor activity and immunogenicity in the tumor microenvironment (TME). "
02/01/2000 - "The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of alpha-chemokines (IL-8 and melanoma growth-stimulating activator), beta-chemokines (monocyte chemotactic protein 1, macrophage inflammatory protein 1alpha [MIP-1alpha], MIP-1beta, and RANTES), and proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1beta, TNF-alpha, and IFN-gamma) on the expression of both ET-1 and endothelin-converting enzyme 1 (ECE-1) by human umbilical vein endothelial cells. "
05/01/1994 - "In the present study, the action of chemokines/intercrines on the regulation of feeding was investigated using the intracerebroventricular microinfusion of chemokine/intercrine-alpha subfamily members [interleukin-8 (IL-8); growth-related cytokine/melanoma growth-stimulating activity (GRO-alpha/MGSA); platelet factor-4 (PF-4); beta-thromboglobulin (beta-TG); and interferon-inducible protein-10 (IP-10)] and beta-subfamily members [monocyte chemotactic protein-1/monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCP-1/MCAF); regulated upon activation normal T-cell expressed and presumably secreted (RANTES); macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha (MIP-1 alpha); and macrophage inflammatory protein-1 beta (MIP-1 beta)]. "
07/01/2012 - "Flt-3 ligand, interleukin (IL) 1α, IL-6, IL-8, interferon-γ inducible protein (IP)-10, monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), macrophage inflammatory protein 1α, platelet-derived growth factor AA, and vascular endothelial growth factor were significantly elevated in aqueous and vitreous of melanoma eyes when compared with controls.
