03/11/2022 - "Furthermore, the data showed that for two- and/or three-wall endosseous defects, the adjunctive use of L-PRF to GTR was significantly beneficial for CAL and DD improvement, whereas adding L-PRF to EMD had no significant effect, and that for class II furcation defects, the addition of L-PRF to OFD was significantly beneficial for PPD, CAL and DD improvement, whereas the addition of L-PRF to OG was significantly clinically beneficial. "
07/01/2018 - "Significant improvement was found in both groups, but the combination of PRF with β-TCP allograft led to more favorable improvement in the management of Grade II furcation defect except PPD."
01/01/2003 - "The results of the present study indicated that (1) FDS produced clinically and statistically significant PPD reduction, v-CAL gain, and h-CAL gain in Class I/II molar furcation defects, and (2) cigarette smokers exhibited a less favorable healing outcome following surgery in terms of both v-CAL and h-CAL gain."
03/24/2023 - "For both treatment modalities, significant improvements in PPD, CAL, and VFD were found in the test group (PPD reduction of 4.1±3.0 mm, CAL gain of 4.4±2.9 mm, and VFD reduction of 4.1±2.5 mm) and control group (PPD reduction of 2.7±2.0 mm, CAL gain of 2.0±2.8 mm, and VFD reduction of 2.4±2.5 mm) 12 months after the regenerative treatment of furcation defects (P<0.05). "
03/24/2023 - "Clinical (probing pocket depth [PPD] and clinical attachment level [CAL]) and radiographic (vertical furcation defect; VFD) parameters were evaluated at baseline and 6 and 12 months after regenerative treatment. "

07/01/2005 - "This study investigated, both histologically and histometrically, the efficacy of enamel matrix derived proteins (EMD) associated with bioactive glass (BG) and an absorbable membrane in the treatment of class III furcation defects in mongrel dogs. "
10/01/2009 - "Mechanistically, the specificity of hOP-1 primarily initiating cementogenesis in periodontal defects is regulated by both the dentine extracellular matrix upon which responding cells attach and differentiate, and the structure/activity profile of the implanted hOP-1; the limited induction of cementogenesis by hBMP-2 in furcation defects of non-human primate and canine models is consistent with the reported data that hBMP-2 inhibits differentiation and mineralization of cementoblasts in vitro aside the specific structure/activity profile of the implanted hBMP-2 protein. "
08/01/2008 - "There is evidence that regenerative treatment of intra-bony and mandibular class II furcation defects with access flap and an application of an enamel matrix protein derivative (EMD) can result in a clinical benefit compared with access flap alone. "
06/01/2015 - "Enamel matrix protein therapy has demonstrated clinical improvements in the treatment of buccal Class II furcation defects in mandibular molars; however, complete closure of the furcation lesion is achieved only in a minority of cases. "
07/01/2019 - "Only articles published in English describing animal and human histological studies evaluating the effect of surgical treatment, with or without the adjunctive use of potentially regenerative materials (i.e., barrier membranes, grafting materials, growth factors/proteins, and combinations thereof) for the treatment of periodontal furcation defects were considered. 11/01/2014 - "On comparison, the vertical probing depth showed significant reduction in the test group with a mean reduction of 3.1 ± 0.7 mm, when compared to the control group which showed a mean reduction of 1.5 ± 0.5 mm. The horizontal probing depth of furcation defects was also significantly reduced in the test group with a mean reduction of 2.2 ± 0.6 mm, when compared to the control group in which the mean reduction was 0.9 ± 0.3 mm. There was also significant gain in attachment level in the test group which showed a mean gain of 3.2 ± 0.6 mm, when compared to the control group which showed a gain of 1.2 ± 0.6 mm. Radiographic defect fill was found to be more in the test group with a mean gain of 2.0 ± 0.1 mm, when compared to the control group which showed a defect fill of 0.2 ± 0.1 mm. The results of this study demonstrated that the combined use of anorganic bovine bone graft and resorbable GTR membrane is effective than open flap debridement alone in the treatment of mandibular grade II furcation defects."
07/01/2017 - "The aim of the present study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic effectiveness of open flap debridement (OFD) and PRF when compared to OFD + PRF + 1% MF gel in the management of mandibular Grade II furcation defects. "
01/01/2016 - "This double-masked randomized study is designed to evaluate the potency of a combination of 1.2 mg RSV in situ gel with a 1:1 mixture of autologous PRF and HA bone graft in the surgical treatment of mandibular Class II furcation defects compared with autologous PRF and HA bone graft placed after open-flap debridement (OFD). "
01/01/2015 - "This study was designed to describe and evaluate the use of a vascularized marginal periosteal barrier membrane (MPM) harvested by a semilunar incision, alone or combined with a bone graft, in treatment of class II furcation defects in mandibular molars, compared to open flap debridement (OFD). "
10/01/2011 - "This double-masked randomized study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of autologous PRF in the treatment of mandibular degree II furcation defects compared with open flap debridement (OFD). "
