Ornithine Decarboxylase (Decarboxylase, Ornithine)

1471  relevant articles (23 outcomes, 121 trials/studies) found for this Bio-Agent

Description: A pyridoxal-phosphate protein, believed to be the rate-limiting compound in the biosynthesis of polyamines. It catalyzes the decarboxylation of ornithine to form putrescine, which is then linked to a propylamine moiety of decarboxylated S-adenosylmethionine to form spermidine. EC 4.1.1.17.

Also Known As:
Decarboxylase, Ornithine; Carboxy-lyase, Ornithine; Ornithine Carboxy lyase; Ornithine Carboxy-lyase; L-Ornithine carboxy-lyase
