03/01/1999 - "CONCLUSION: This study suggests that (1) the percentage of CD4+, CD8+, or IL-2R+ lymphocytes in peripheral blood was significantly elevated during acute attacks and returned to normal ranges after complete remission was achieved; (2) plasma soluble IL-2R is a sensitive marker for asthma activity; and (3) atopic asthmatic children seem to have a hereditary predisposition of having higher levels of soluble IL-2R in asthma attacks, coinherited with the trait of IgE."
07/01/2000 - "I have three objectives: (1) review T cell differentiation leading to the Th1/Th2 paradigm; (2) evaluate the increased prevalence of atopy, including asthma, as a consequence of a Th2-dominated immune system; (3) relate the high prevalence of asthma in inner city United States black children to the relatively recent migration of their ancestors from tropical regions of Africa, where genetically biased Th2-dependent IgE responses may be important in protection against high burdens of parasitic worms."
02/01/2007 - "In the 18 subjects no longer responsive to TDI, 8 had still features of asthma: their symptom and medication score had improved significantly, but FEV(1), PD(20) and serum IgE had not significantly changed; the other ten patients no longer reactors to TDI were also asymptomatic and their PD(20) had become normal. "
09/01/2000 - "The following features were recognized among patients with bronchial asthma induced by contact with hamsters: 1) earlier onset of symptoms than for keeping other household pets, at an average of 14.7 months or within 12 months in 78% of the cases following the start of pet keeping; 2) adults ranging from their late 30s to 40s who have children of primary school age; 3) dwelling in apartments; 4) relatively high level of serum IgE and ECP; 5) positive for both immediate and late type asthmatic responses on an inhaling induction test; and 6) rapid remission after the cessation of pet keeping."
08/25/2000 - "These results indicate that the efficacy of TEI-9874 on the asthmatic response is mainly mediated by the suppression of allergen-specific IgE production and TEI-9874 appears to be a good candidate as therapy for IgE-mediated allergic asthma."
