Hypoglycemia (Reactive Hypoglycemia)

A syndrome of abnormally low BLOOD GLUCOSE level. Clinical hypoglycemia has diverse etiologies. Severe hypoglycemia eventually lead to glucose deprivation of the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM resulting in HUNGER; SWEATING; PARESTHESIA; impaired mental function; SEIZURES; COMA; and even DEATH.
Also Known As:
Reactive Hypoglycemia; Postprandial Hypoglycemia; Hypoglycemia, Reactive; Fasting Hypoglycemia; Postabsorptive Hypoglycemia; Hypoglycemia, Fasting; Hypoglycemia, Postabsorptive; Hypoglycemia, Postprandial

01/01/2023 - "Relative to the control, using smartphone apps yielded a non-significant reduction in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) (WMD = -0.26, 95% CI: -0.56 to 0.05; p = 0.10) and no increased frequency of mild hypoglycemia (WMD = 1.87, 95% CI: -1.52 to 5.27; p = 0.49) or severe hypoglycemia (WMD = -0.04, 95% CI: -0.35 to 0.27; p = 0.80). "
01/01/2020 - "When all parents received the telehealth treatment, we also observed significant reductions in hypoglycemia fear, parenting stress-frequency, and parenting stress-difficulty (P's < .001), and sensitivity analyses revealed a significant reduction in child glycated hemoglobin for children who entered the treatment above target (P < .05). "
08/01/2010 - "Improved metabolic control with significant lowering of glycated hemoglobin (A1C) along with other parameters of glycemia, and without a concomitant increase in hypoglycemia, has been demonstrated. "
01/01/2014 - "Clinical studies demonstrate an overall favorable safety profile, low risk for hypoglycemia, weight neutrality, primarily nonrenal clearance, and efficacy for glycosylated hemoglobin reduction, typically ranging from 0.6% to 0.8% depending on baseline levels. "
10/01/2023 - "Children and adolescents with T1DM who attended the Pediatric Diabetes Clinic between January 2019 and 2020, aged between 5-14 years, with a mean of 3 glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) readings ≥7% (53 mmol/mol) during the study period reflecting a hyperglycemic status and who agreed to participate were interviewed about their history of hypoglycemia and DKA.
