"
12/01/2002 - "The purpose of this article is to describe how the use of quantitative (quasi-experimental) and qualitative (grounded-theory) methods in an evaluation of new dementia special care units led to a better understanding of how the nursing home environment affects residents with dementia, which in turn helped to advance theory development in person-environment interaction. "
07/01/1994 - "Although the impact of OBRA 87 on the quality of life of residents with dementia is unknown, the federal regulations constitute a major step in the movement for nursing home reform and toward improved quality of care."
12/01/1992 - "A consultation-liaison psychiatry program in a teaching nursing home helped implement six guiding principles including: make the patient human to the staff; assume no behavior is random; look for depression of psychosis as a source of problems; reduce medications and medication doses; create a more homelike environment; and use conditions in which learning still occurs in dementia."
05/01/2005 - "CONCLUSIONS: Bright light exposure was effective in reducing daytime sleep in nursing home patients with dementia; this finding is possibly related to bright light's acute alerting effects."
