Decompression

Decompression external to the body, most often the slow lessening of external pressure on the whole body (especially in caisson workers, deep sea divers, and persons who ascend to great heights) to prevent DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS. It includes also sudden accidental decompression, but not surgical (local) decompression or decompression applied through body openings.

07/20/2009 - "Although spontaneous resolution of the pseudotumor after fixation of the unstable segment has been reported as the treatment of choice, decompression with occipitoaxial fusion was selected in the current case because the patient's neurological deficit was severe and progressive because of a remarkable canal stenosis at level C1/2."
08/01/2005 - "Bilateral and unilateral laminotomy allowed adequate and safe decompression of lumbar stenosis, resulted in a highly significant reduction of symptoms and disability, and improved health-related quality of life. "
12/01/2020 - "Reporting criteria for the pathologies at each disc level and, when available, the grading of severity were extracted and assigned into two categories: "Normal," and "Stenosis." Clinical outcomes were graded using dichotomized modified Macnab criteria considering Excellent and Good results as "Improved," and Fair and Poor outcomes as "Not Improved." Binary logistic regression analysis was used to predict the probability of the AI- and radiologist grading of stenosis at the 88 foraminal decompression sites to result in "Improved" outcomes. "
01/01/2020 - "Conclusion: To summarize, unilateral percutaneous endoscopic spine surgery to achieve the bilateral decompression in lumbar stenosis provides excellent yet safe and effective outcomes. "
04/01/2009 - "Presented here is a prospective study assessing the efficacy of decompression of concomitant noncontiguous level (thoracic & lumbar) stenosis in accordance with neurological findings, nerve root blocks, and myelographically proven disease. "
