silkworm fibroin

A protein consists of a heavy chain and a light chain linked by a disulfide bond. Polymers of silk fibroin constitute fibroin filaments. A raw silk strand (300-600 meters) consists of two fibroin filaments coated by a sticky gum protein, SERICIN.
