moulting fluid protease 1
a cuticle-degrading proteinase from the moulting fluid of the tobacco hornworm, Manduca sexta; MW 41 kDa; preferred substrate is Tos-Gly-Pro-Arg-pNA; may act as the first step in the degradation of the cuticle during the moulting process; substrate specificity and inhibition typical of serine proteases, but also inhibited by thiol protease inhibitors
