8-oxodGTPase

found in MutT protein of E coli & in humans; hydrolyzes 8-oxodGTP to 8-oxodGMP; also degrades dGTP & dATP to dGMP & dAMP, respectively; MW 18 kDa; prevents A.T to C.G transversion caused by 8-oxodGTP, which forms spontaneously in nucleotide pool of E coli; mutant form with Met replacing Val at position 83 may be antimutagenic for human cancer
Also Known As:
8-oxo-2'-deoxyguanosine 5'-triphosphate pyrophosphohydrolase; 8-oxo-7,8-dihydroguanosine triphosphatase; 8-oxo-dGTPase; 8-oxo-deoxy-GTPase; MTH1 protein, human; NUDT1 protein, human; nudix (nucleoside diphosphate linked moiety X)-type motif 1, human
