01/01/1988 - "Since cicletanine-treated dogs had reduced mean ST segment elevation at 3 min post-occlusion, lower incidence of early post-occlusion (0-10 min) sustained ventricular tachycardia, and increased endogenous production of prostacyclin, and the latter was inversely correlated with the level of ST segment elevation, it is concluded that such favourable effects on the ischaemic myocardium were contributory to the improved outcome in these experiments. "
04/01/1991 - "After 30 min of global ischemia, the incidence (total) of ventricular fibrillation (VF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) was reduced by 2-week pretreatment of the rats with 30 and 100 mg/kg of cicletanine (VF, 33% at 30 mg/kg and 25% at 100 mg/kg vs. 91% in untreated rats; VT, 42% at 30 mg/kg and 42% at 100 mg/kg vs. 100% in untreated rats), while lower doses of cicletanine (3 and 10 mg/kg) failed to reduce the incidence of reperfusion-induced rhythm disturbances. "
02/01/1990 - "Using the optimal doses of cicletanine (30 and 100 mg/kg orally for 14 days), the incidence of reperfusion-induced ventricular fibrillation (VF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT) was reduced from their control values of 91 and 100% (after 30 min of ischemia) to 41 (p less than 0.05), 50 (p less than 0.05) and 41 (p less than 0.05), 58% in the NT group, while the corresponding value in the SH group for VF and VT were 17 (p less than 0.001), 33 (p less than 0.01) and 17 (p less than 0.001), 25% (p less than 0.001), respectively. "
03/01/1992 - "We studied the effects of cicletanine, a furopyridine antihypertensive drug, and furosemide, a loop diuretic, on ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular fibrillation (VF) and ventricular tachycardia (VT), and myocardial ion content in Langendorff rat hearts subjected to 30 min global ischaemia then 10 min reperfusion.
